How the generator works
Pick the niche that is closest to your account. Below the box you get a curated set of about 20 hashtags that are commonly used in that niche, and the first 5 go into the box. Click a tag to add it to the box or take it out, or edit the box by hand, for example to add your own brand or campaign tag. Since December 2025 Instagram allows 5 hashtags per post or reel, so the box holds 5 tags and the counter warns you when a hand edit goes over.
When AI suggestions are switched on, you can also describe the post in a sentence. The AI suggests 5 to 10 tags that fit that specific topic. They are added to the top of the set without duplicates, and the best 5 fill the box. AI suggestions are a draft: read them before posting, because a tag can carry a meaning you did not expect.
Choosing hashtags that fit
Treat hashtags as labels, not as a way to reach everybody. With only 5 tags per post, each one has to describe the post. A useful set usually mixes three kinds of tags:
- One or two broad tags that describe the topic, such as #travel or #fitness.
- Two or three specific tags that describe this post, such as #solotravel or #homeworkout.
- Your own tag: a brand tag, a campaign tag or a community tag your followers already use.
Before you reuse a tag, open it on Instagram and look at the recent posts. If they have nothing to do with your post, or the tag is full of spam, leave it out. Rotate your sets rather than pasting the same block on every post, so each post carries tags that actually match it.
Save time on every post
Writing hashtags is one small step of publishing. In PostBoost you can save hashtag groups, write the caption once and schedule it to Instagram and your other networks from one place.
