AI-powered social media management for agents

Connect your AI agent to PostBoost.

Add one MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code. Your agent can then draft, schedule and review posts on 15 channels and read the analytics. You approve the connection once with your PostBoost sign-in.

Free plan: 3 social accounts, no credit card. MCP and API on every plan.

Read the MCP docs

Paste this into your agent

Your agent walks you through signup, the connection and a first draft. It asks before it does anything you have to approve.

Set up PostBoost (https://postboost.co) so you can help me with social media.
1. If I do not have a PostBoost account yet, send me to https://postboost.co/app/register and wait until I say I have signed up.
2. Add the PostBoost MCP server to this client: https://postboost.co/mcp
   It uses OAuth sign-in, so give me the login link and wait until I approve it.
   If you cannot add servers yourself, tell me exactly where to add it in this client.
3. Then list my connected social accounts in PostBoost.
   If none are connected, use the create-connect-link tool to give me a link for each network I want, and wait.
4. Write one short post for one of my accounts and save it as a draft. Do not schedule or publish anything until I say so.

Cursor

Cursor

  • Add PostBoost to Cursor
  • Or add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project:

    json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "postboost": {
          "url": "https://postboost.co/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  • Cursor opens the sign-in when you first turn the server on.

VS Code

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

  • Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

    json
    {
      "servers": {
        "postboost": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://postboost.co/mcp"
        }
      }
    }

Other MCP clients

Other MCP clients (Windsurf, Cline, Continue, Zed)

  • Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth can use this URL:

    https://postboost.co/mcp
  • If your client cannot run an OAuth sign-in, send an access token instead (next tab).

API token

API token (clients without OAuth, scripts, CI, Codex, Gemini CLI)

  • Create a token in the dashboard: click your avatar in the top bar and choose Access Tokens. It is shown once.

  • The connector accepts the token as a header:

    Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN
  • Want one tool per API operation? Use the advanced server:

    https://postboost.co/mcp/postboost
  • Codex:

    toml ~/.codex/config.toml
    [mcp_servers.postboost]
    url = "https://postboost.co/mcp/postboost"
    bearer_token_env_var = "POSTBOOST_API_TOKEN"
  • Gemini CLI:

    bash
    gemini mcp add --transport http --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN" postboost https://postboost.co/mcp/postboost
  • Never paste a real token into a shared file. Read it from an environment variable such as POSTBOOST_API_TOKEN.

  • All client guides
  • Authentication

Or start in the dashboard

The Get started page creates an API key for your agent, tests the connection and helps you add your first social account.

What your agent can do

The same posts, calendar and accounts your team sees in the dashboard.

Draft and schedule

Create posts for each account, schedule them for a time or add them to your queue. Ask: “Draft a LinkedIn and X post about our release and schedule it for tomorrow at 9:00.”

Pick good times

Read the best posting times per account and use the next good slot. Ask: “When should I post on Instagram this week?”

Check results

Read workspace, account and post analytics, and build CSV or PDF reports. Ask: “How did last week's posts do compared with the week before?”

Fix failed posts

See why a post failed, check account health and retry the account that failed. Ask: “Show me posts that failed in the last 7 days and why.”

Repurpose content

Turn an article, YouTube video, PDF or text into a draft with a caption per account. Uses AI credits. Ask: “Turn this blog post into posts for LinkedIn and Threads.”

You stay in control

Drafts by default.
New posts are saved as drafts. Nothing is published unless you or your agent explicitly schedules it.
Checks before every post.
Duplicate posts, full daily caps and accounts that need reconnecting are refused with a clear reason.
Your client asks first.
Every tool tells your client whether it only reads, changes something or reaches a social network, so the client can ask you before it acts.
Approvals for your team.
Your team sees every post in the calendar and can review it there.
How the guardrails work

Built-in agents ask first too

PostBoost's own agents check the posts due soon. They propose holding a post with a dead link or editing a caption, and nothing changes until a person approves it.
PostBoost agents approval queue: a dead-link hold and AI caption edits waiting for a person to approve

Tools your agent gets

Generated from the connector itself, so this list is always current.

Reads (24)
  • list-workspaces List the workspaces the authenticated user can access, most recently updated first.
  • get-workspace Get details about a single workspace: name, colour, the authenticated user's role and approval rights, and the number of connected accounts, posts and members.
  • list-accounts List the social media accounts connected to a workspace.
  • get-account Get full details for a single connected account by its numeric id: name, username, provider, authorization status, profile image, external profile URL and provider-specific data (e.g. follower metrics).
  • list-posts List posts in a workspace, most recent first.
  • get-post Get the details of a single post by its uuid: status, schedule/publish times, author, tags, the accounts it targets (with live post URLs and any publish errors) and every content version with the text and the media ids of each item.
  • list-tags List the tags defined in a workspace.
  • list-media List the media files (images, GIFs and videos) in a workspace's library, newest first.
  • get-media-upload-status Check the progress of a background media download started by upload-media-by-url for a large file.
  • get-analytics-summary Get the cross-platform analytics summary of a workspace for a period: total followers, follower growth and post count compared with the previous period of the same length, the best growing and the least growing account, a daily audience chart, a follower leaderboard, follower distribution and posting consistency.
  • get-account-analytics Get the analytics of one connected account for a period.
  • get-post-analytics Get the analytics of a published post by its uuid: totals of views, likes, comments and shares across every account it was published to, their trend over time, engagement rate, breakdown, reach-to-engagement funnel and peak day, plus the same figures per account (by numeric account id) with the provider's own metrics and how the post compares with that account's average.
  • get-best-posting-times Get the best times to post, learned from how past posts of the chosen accounts performed.
  • validate-post Checks a post exactly as create-post would, without creating anything: content rules per network, per-network requirements, duplicate guard, per-account daily caps, account authorization and the X monthly allowance (when enforced).
  • get-account-health Pre-flight check before publishing: for every connected account whether it is authorized, still holds a token, and how much of its daily posting cap is used today; plus the workspace's X (Twitter) posts this month against its monthly allowance.
  • get-ai-credits The workspace's AI credits: text credits used, limit and remaining in the current billing cycle, and image credits for the current calendar month (UTC).
  • get-brand-voice The workspace's brand voice: business name, mission, industry, personality, audience, preferred and avoided topics, tone sliders (formal, playful, technical: 1-5), emoji and hashtag style, words to avoid, preferred calls to action and example posts.
  • list-automations Everything that creates posts on its own in the workspace: recycling rules (evergreen recurring posts, with next run, runs done and the source post or tag) and RSS feed auto-posts (url, mode, accounts, last poll and last error).
  • get-repurpose-run Status of a repurpose-content run that was still going when the tool answered.
  • list-agents The background agents switched on for the workspace (for example the pre-publish checker), with type, schedule, settings, whether they are enabled and when they last ran.
  • list-agent-proposals Proposals made by the workspace's background agents, newest first; pending ones by default.
  • list-inbox-drafts Reply drafts waiting for a person in the social inbox (comments and messages on Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn Page and Google Business), newest first, 25 per page, with the incoming message they answer.
  • count-characters Counts a post text the way each network counts it (X weighs links as 23 and emoji as 2, Bluesky counts graphemes, Mastodon drops mention servers) and returns each network's limit, remaining characters and whether the text is over.
  • check-post Checks a post text and its media (count, type, video length) against each network's publishing rules without an account: errors that would stop it from publishing (too long, too many hashtags, media missing where the network needs it, too many files, media type, video length) and warnings (see-more cut-off, link not clickable on Instagram).
Changes (22)
  • create-post Create a post in a workspace and optionally schedule or publish it to the connected social media accounts.
  • update-post Update an existing post: change its text content (simple "content" or per-account "versions"), the accounts it targets and/or its tags.
  • schedule-post Schedule an existing post for a specific date/time, or publish it immediately with post_now.
  • add-post-to-queue Add an existing post to the posting queue: it is scheduled at the next available slot of the workspace posting schedule.
  • unschedule-post Unschedule a post: clear its scheduled time and take it back to draft, so it stays put until it is scheduled again.
  • duplicate-post Duplicate an existing post.
  • attach-tags-to-post Attach one or more tags to a post, keeping any tags it already has.
  • create-tag Create a tag in a workspace.
  • upload-media-by-url Upload a media file (image, GIF or video) to a workspace's library by downloading it from a public URL.
  • delete-post Delete a post.
  • restore-post Restore a post from the trash.
  • create-connect-link Returns a single-use link (valid 15 minutes) that connects a new account on an OAuth network to the workspace.
  • retry-failed-post Publishes a post again to one account whose publishing failed, and returns the post status and publish progress.
  • update-brand-voice Creates or updates the workspace brand voice.
  • upload-media Adds an image, GIF or video you hold as base64 to the workspace media library and returns its numeric media id to reference in a post.
  • create-recycling-rule Re-publishes evergreen content on an interval.
  • add-rss-feed Watches an RSS 2.0 or Atom feed every 30 minutes and turns each item published after the feed was added into a post for the given accounts: a draft by default (`mode: draft`), straight into the posting queue (`mode: queue`), or into the queue awaiting approval (`mode: needs_approval`, nothing publishes until someone approves it).
  • create-report Generates a downloadable analytics report for a period: a CSV of posts or accounts, or a branded PDF with the workspace's report branding (agency logo, name, colour).
  • repurpose-content Turns an article URL, a YouTube video, a public PDF or pasted text into one draft post with a caption written for each target account, plus an image carousel on the networks that take several images.
  • approve-agent-proposal Applies a pending proposal at once: `hold_post` moves the post back to draft, `edit_caption` replaces the caption of that version, `retry_account` publishes that failed account again (with the shortened caption, if any), `reconnect_account` only records it (the user reconnects the account in PostBoost).
  • reject-agent-proposal Records that a pending proposal was rejected (with an optional note); nothing changes on the post.
  • create-inbox-draft Proposes a reply to a comment or message in the social inbox.

Questions

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI clients like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor use tools from other apps. PostBoost runs an MCP server, so your agent can work with your social posts directly.

Do I need to write code?

No. In Claude.ai and ChatGPT you add a URL in the settings and sign in. Claude Code and Cursor take one command or one config file.

Do I need an API key?

No for the connector at postboost.co/mcp: you approve the connection with your PostBoost sign-in. Use an access token only for clients without OAuth sign-in, for scripts and for the advanced server.

Can my agent publish without asking me?

New posts are drafts unless your agent schedules them, and your client can ask you before any tool that changes something. Tell your agent to keep everything as drafts and your team can review them in the calendar.

Which channels can my agent post to?

15: X, Facebook Pages, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Telegram, Discord and Slack.

Is MCP included on the Free plan?

Yes. MCP, the REST API and webhooks are on every plan, including Free.

Can my agent connect new social accounts?

Yes. Your agent can create a connect link for a network; you open it and sign in to that network yourself. Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Telegram, Discord and Slack connect in the dashboard.

What if my client does not support OAuth?

Create an access token (click your avatar in the top bar, then Access Tokens) and send it as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN to https://postboost.co/mcp.

Give your agent a social media manager.
