Instagram carousel splitter

Pick a wide image, choose how many slides and their shape, and download slices that line up edge to edge when people swipe. Your image never leaves your browser.

The darker edges are cropped away. Each slide downloads at full size.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to PostBoost.

A seamless carousel is one wide image cut into slides that line up when people swipe. The first slide ends exactly where the second begins, so the photo looks like one long scene that continues off the screen. It works well for panoramas, product line-ups, timelines and before-and-after pairs.

How the splitter cuts your image

You choose the number of slides and their shape. The splitter puts that many slides side by side, fits the strip over the centre of your image and cuts it into equal slices. Every slice has the same whole number of pixels, so no line or gap shows between slides. When your image is wider or taller than the strip, the edges are cropped and the splitter tells you how much.

Getting a sharp result

Instagram keeps feed images at most 1080 pixels wide. For three portrait slides, start from an image at least 3240 pixels wide and 1350 high; for five square slides, 5400 by 1080. Smaller images still work, but the slides are enlarged and the splitter warns you.

Post it in one go

Add the slides to one carousel in the order you downloaded them. With PostBoost you can schedule the carousel to Instagram alongside your other networks, and check it before it goes out.

How to use

  1. Pick a wide image or panorama from your device. It stays in your browser.
  2. Choose the number of slides (2 to 10) and the slide shape: square 1:1 or portrait 4:5.
  3. Check the grid on the preview: the cut lines show where each slide starts and ends.
  4. Download each slide and add them to one Instagram carousel in the same order.

FAQ

How do I post a panorama as a seamless Instagram carousel?

Cut the panorama into slides of the same size that sit side by side, then post them as one carousel in order. This tool works out the cut lines: a 3240×1350 image becomes three 1080×1350 slides at 4:5, and each slide ends exactly where the next one starts.

How many slides can a carousel have?

The splitter makes 2 to 10 slides. Ten is the most a carousel published through Instagram's API can hold, and it is also the most PostBoost publishes in one Instagram carousel.

Which slide size should I use?

Portrait 4:5 (1080×1350) fills the most of the feed and is the tallest shape Instagram's publishing API accepts. Square 1:1 (1080×1080) suits images that are less tall. The 3:4 shape (1080×1440) is not offered because Instagram accepts it in the app only.

What happens when my image does not fit the slides exactly?

The splitter keeps the centre and crops the edges, so every slide has the same width and height. It tells you how many pixels it cuts. For a clean result, use an image that is the slide count times the slide width: 3240×1350 for three 4:5 slides.

Why do my slides look blurry?

Each slide is exported 1080 pixels wide. When your image is smaller than the slide count times 1080 pixels, the slides are enlarged and can look soft; the splitter warns you when that happens. Start from the largest version of the photo you have.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is read and cut in your browser and never sent to PostBoost. The same cut-line maths is on the PostBoost Free Tools API and MCP server, which take the image size, not the image.
