Cross-post formatter: one post, five networks, side by side

Paste one post and see at once where it fits on X, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn. Each network counts with its own rules, and you get a ready thread wherever the post is too long.

One post, five sets of rules

Cross-posting saves time until a post fails on one network. X cuts at 280 and counts an emoji as 2. Threads rejects a post with too many links. LinkedIn hides most of a long post behind "see more". The formatter shows every card next to the others, so you fix the post once instead of finding out after it publishes.

When a post is too long

On X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, the card offers a thread split with the same rules as the X thread maker. It breaks at paragraphs, then sentences, and never cuts a word or a link. LinkedIn has no threads, so its card tells you how many characters to cut.

    Facts

    • X: 280 characters. A link counts as 23 characters; most emoji and CJK characters count as 2 (X developer docs, checked 2026-10-21).
    • Threads: 500 characters and at most 5 links per post; posts with more links fail (Meta Threads API docs, checked 2026-10-21).
    • Bluesky: 300 graphemes per post, so an emoji counts as 1 (app.bsky.feed.post lexicon, checked 2026-10-21).
    • Mastodon: 500 characters on most servers; a link counts as 23 and an @user@server mention counts without the server (Mastodon docs, checked 2026-10-21).
    • LinkedIn: 3,000 characters per post, the limit the PostBoost composer enforces.

    How to use

    1. Type or paste your post into the box.
    2. Untick any network you don't post to. All five are on by default.
    3. Read each card: the count against that network's limit, plus any warning about links, the LinkedIn fold or @handles.
    4. Where the post is too long, copy the ready thread, or Copy all to get every post separated by a blank line.
    5. Click Schedule this to open the post as a draft in PostBoost, or Schedule this thread to open a card's thread.

    FAQ

Why does the same post have a different count on each network?

Each network counts differently. X counts a link as 23 characters and most emoji and CJK characters as 2. Threads counts an emoji as its UTF-8 bytes, so most emoji cost 4. Bluesky counts graphemes, so any emoji is 1. Mastodon counts a link as 23 and an @user@server mention without the server. LinkedIn counts each character.

How many links can a Threads post have?

Up to 5. Meta's Threads API docs say posts with more than 5 links fail. The formatter warns on the Threads card when your post has more than 5 http or https links.

What does the LinkedIn "see more" warning mean?

LinkedIn shows only the start of a long post and hides the rest behind "see more". The warning gives the cut-off PostBoost uses, so you can put the important part first.

Do @handles carry over from one network to another?

No. A handle belongs to one network, so @alice on X may be someone else, or nobody, on Bluesky. Check each handle on each network. On Mastodon, write @user@server for people on other servers.

Can it post to all five networks for me?

No. The formatter only counts, warns and splits. Click Schedule this to open the post as a draft in PostBoost (or Schedule this thread on a card), then pick your accounts and schedule it to every network at once.

    Is my text sent anywhere?

Not unless you click Schedule this. The formatter runs in your browser. Schedule this sends the post or thread to PostBoost to open it as a draft in your account.
