A social media report template that fills itself in

Most monthly reports repeat the same page: posts published, views, engagements, engagement rate, a line per network, the best posts and when they went out. Building it by hand means copying numbers from every network into a spreadsheet. Here you export the metrics once, drop the CSV in, and the page does the sums. Use the sample CSV to see the layout before you use your own data.

What the report shows

  • Totals: posts, views, engagements and engagement rate, with the date range found in the file.
  • Per network: posts, views, engagements and rate for each network, sorted by engagements.
  • Top 5 posts: by engagements, with the date, the network and the first 80 characters of the text.
  • Weekdays: posts per weekday and the best weekday by average engagements per post.

The report shows your numbers, not benchmarks. Engagement rates depend on the network, the audience and the base you divide by, so compare each month with your own last report. To compare rates by followers, reach or impressions, use the engagement rate calculator.

Let PostBoost collect the numbers

PostBoost collects post analytics from your connected accounts and exports the report for you as a branded PDF or a CSV. That CSV works in this tool as it is, so you can still copy a quick text summary into an email.

How to use

  1. Export your post metrics as a CSV from your scheduler or from each network, or download the sample file.
  2. Drop the file on the page, choose it, or paste the CSV text.
  3. Check the column mapping: every report field has a menu with the columns found in your file.
  4. Add a report title, a period and a client name if you want them in the printed header.
  5. Copy the summary as text, download it as a CSV or print it to a one-page PDF.

FAQ

What should a social media report include?

For a monthly client report, start with how many posts went out, how many views they got, the total engagements and the engagement rate. Then break it down per network, show the posts that did best and note when your audience responded most. This tool builds exactly that page from your own numbers, so you only add the comments that explain them.

Which CSV files work?

Any CSV with a header row and one row per post. The tool detects commas, semicolons or tabs, handles quoted text with commas and line breaks, and maps columns by name: published_at or date, network or platform, text or caption, views, impressions or reach, likes or reactions, comments, shares or reposts, clicks and engagements. You can change any mapping by hand. A CSV exported from PostBoost's reports maps with no changes. Files are limited to 1 MB and 5,000 rows.

How are engagements and the engagement rate calculated?

If your file has an engagements column, the tool uses it. Otherwise it adds up likes, comments and shares, plus clicks when your file has them, and the page says which counts it used. The engagement rate is engagements ÷ views × 100 with two decimals. Without views (no column, or every value 0) the rate shows n/a instead of 0%.

How is the best weekday chosen?

The tool groups dated posts by the weekday of their publish date and divides each day's engagements by its number of posts. The day with the highest average wins; on a tie, the earlier day in the week. Only dates that start with YYYY-MM-DD are read, and the page tells you how many posts it could not date.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The CSV is read and summarised by JavaScript in your browser, and the page sends nothing about it to PostBoost. The title, period and client name stay on your device too and only appear in the copy and the printout.

Can PostBoost build this report for me?

Yes. PostBoost's analytics reports export a branded PDF with a summary, your accounts and the top 10 posts, or a CSV of up to 500 published posts, for last month or any range up to 366 days, and your AI agent can request the same report through the API.
