WordPress plugin

The PostBoost - Auto-post to social plugin creates a PostBoost post whenever you publish a WordPress post. It uses the public API with your API token, so it works on any plan, including Free.

What it does

  • Sends each WordPress post once, on its first publish. Updates do not post again.
  • Builds the text from a template ({title}, {excerpt}, {url}) or asks PostBoost's AI to write a caption per network from the title, excerpt and featured image (uses AI credits, see blog-to-social).
  • Then keeps the post as a draft in PostBoost (default), adds it to your queue, or publishes it now.
  • Sends in the background with WP-Cron and an Idempotency-Key, so a retry never creates a duplicate.
  • Adds a PostBoost box to the editor: skip sharing for one post, or write a custom message.

Install

  1. Download the plugin zip and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate it.

  2. In PostBoost, create an API token under Settings → Access Tokens.

  3. Add the token to wp-config.php (recommended, keeps it out of the database):

    define( 'POSTBOOST_API_TOKEN', 'your-token' );

Or paste it in Settings → PostBoost.

  4. In Settings → PostBoost: click Test connection, pick the workspace, save, tick the accounts to post to, and save again.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
API URLhttps://postboost.co/app/api unless told otherwise.
WorkspaceThe workspace that receives the posts.
AccountsThe social accounts every post goes to.
TextTemplate mode, or AI captions per network.
After creating the postDraft, add to queue, or publish now. Queue needs a posting schedule with free slots.
Post typesWhich post types are shared (default: Posts).
DelayMinutes to wait after publishing (default 1). The block editor saves the PostBoost box just after the post, so keep at least 1 minute if you use per-post settings.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing arrives: WP-Cron runs on page views. On quiet sites, add a system cron job that calls wp-cron.php.
  • An error shows in the PostBoost box: it is the API's message, for example a missing account or exhausted AI credits. See Error handling.
  • Posts created but not queued: the workspace has no free queue slots; the draft stays in PostBoost and the error is shown in the box.

Privacy

The plugin sends the post's title, excerpt (or the start of its content), permalink and, in AI mode, the featured image URL to PostBoost. It sends no visitor data.
