# MCP server config generator for social media

Pick your AI assistant and the server you want, then copy the exact config, command or steps to connect it to PostBoost. Your assistant can then draft, schedule and review social posts and read their analytics.

## Example: Claude.ai and Claude Desktop, connector

1. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
2. Name: PostBoost, URL:

```text
https://postboost.co/mcp
```
3. Click Add, then Connect and approve the connection on the PostBoost consent screen.

## What your assistant can do with PostBoost

Once connected, you can manage social media from the chat you already work in. Ask your assistant to list your connected accounts, draft a LinkedIn post about a launch, check whether a caption fits X and Instagram, find the best time to post this week, schedule the post or add it to your queue, and later report how it performed. The assistant works through the same workspace, accounts and posting rules as the PostBoost dashboard, so everything it creates shows up there for review.

## Connector or advanced server

PostBoost runs two MCP servers. The connector is built for conversations: a curated set of workflow tools with titles and safety annotations, OAuth sign-in in the client, and a dashboard access token as a fallback for headless use. The advanced server mirrors the REST API, one tool per operation, and accepts only a token. Start with the connector unless you need an operation it does not have.

## Keep your token out of shared files

The configs on this page never contain a real token. When a setup reads the token from an environment variable such as `POSTBOOST_API_TOKEN`, keep it that way, so the config can be committed to a repository without leaking access. Tokens are shown once when you create them; if one leaks, delete it under Access Tokens and create a new one.

## Check the connection

Ask your assistant to list your PostBoost workspaces or accounts. If it cannot see the tools, open your client's MCP settings and check that the PostBoost server is enabled and signed in. The full guides, with troubleshooting, are in the docs linked below each setup.

## How to use

1. Pick the AI assistant or tool you use.
2. Pick the server: the connector (sign in with OAuth, recommended) or the advanced server (API token).
3. Copy the config or command and follow the steps in your client.
4. Sign in to PostBoost when your client asks, or paste your API token in your terminal or config file.
5. Ask your assistant to list your PostBoost accounts to check the connection.

## FAQ

### What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools on other services. PostBoost's MCP server gives your assistant tools to list your social accounts, create drafts, schedule posts, check captions against each network's rules and read analytics.

### Which PostBoost server should I choose?

The connector at https://postboost.co/mcp for almost everyone: curated workflow tools, OAuth sign-in, and it works in Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. The advanced server at https://postboost.co/mcp/postboost has one tool per REST API operation, including admin and billing tools, and suits scripts and agents that already use the API.

### Should I use OAuth or an API token?

Use OAuth when your client supports it: you sign in to PostBoost in the client and approve the connection, and you revoke it by removing the connector. Use a dashboard access token for clients without OAuth, scripts and CI jobs, and for the advanced server, which accepts only tokens. Create one under your avatar → Access Tokens; it is shown only once.

### Will my assistant publish posts without asking me?

No. Posts are saved as drafts unless you explicitly ask to schedule or publish them. The connector tells the assistant that nothing is published unless you ask for it and to prefer drafts, and its tools carry safety annotations so your client can ask you to confirm changes.

### Why does my client show only one server?

The generator only shows setups that our docs cover. Our guides for Codex, Gemini CLI and n8n connect to the advanced server with an API token. Claude.ai, ChatGPT, VS Code and Windsurf use the connector. Claude Code and Cursor have both.

### Do I enter my API token on this page?

No. The page has no token field and never asks for one. The configs use placeholders such as YOUR_API_TOKEN or an environment variable; paste your real token in your terminal or config file, never into a page or a shared repository.

### What if my client is not listed?

Any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers with OAuth can use https://postboost.co/mcp; pick "Windsurf, Cline, Continue, Zed and others". If your client cannot run an OAuth flow, send an Authorization: Bearer header with a dashboard access token to the same URL.
