# LinkedIn post formatter with bold, italic and a feed preview

LinkedIn has no bold or italic button for posts. Select words, pick a style and copy a post with bold and italic text, clean lists and kept line breaks, and see roughly where the feed cuts it with see more.

## Write for the fold

Most readers decide in the feed preview whether to click see more. Put the hook in the first line, keep the first lines short and leave a line break after the opening. The preview on this page shows roughly what fits. Treat it as a guide, because LinkedIn's fold changes with the device and screen width.

## Use styling sparingly

Bold and italic Unicode letters stand out, but they have costs. LinkedIn search may not match them to plain words, screen readers can read them as noise, and some apps show them as boxes. Bold a key phrase or a section label, not a whole paragraph.

## Lists and line breaks

Short lines and lists make long posts easier to scan. The list buttons put a bullet (•) or a plain number at the start of each selected line and replace existing ones instead of doubling them. Line breaks are kept exactly as you type them.

## Schedule it

When the post is ready, click Schedule this above to open it as a draft in PostBoost and schedule it for your LinkedIn profile or Page, along with the other networks you post to.

## How to use

1. Write or paste your post into the editor.
2. Select a word or phrase and click Bold, Italic or Bold italic.
3. Select some lines and click Bullet list or Numbered list.
4. Check the preview: the first lines are what people see before see more.
5. Copy the post and paste it into LinkedIn.

## FAQ

### How do I write bold text on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn posts have no formatting buttons, so bold and italic text is made of special Unicode letters that look bold or italic. Select text in the editor, click Bold, and copy the result into LinkedIn.

### Do screen readers read bold Unicode text?

Often badly or not at all: some read each letter's Unicode name, some skip them. Use bold for a few words, never for whole sentences, and keep important information in plain text.

### Where does LinkedIn cut a post with see more?

In the feed, LinkedIn shows roughly the first three lines or about 210 characters, whichever comes first, then a see more link. It varies by device and screen width, so the preview here is an approximation.

### What is the LinkedIn post character limit?

3,000 characters. The counter under the editor shows how many you have left. Bold and italic letters count as two characters each, here and in PostBoost, because each takes two UTF-16 units; a fully bold post fills 3,000 at about 1,500 letters.

### Why are the numbered lists plain 1. 2. 3.?

Keycap emoji numbers look busy and screen readers announce them as emoji. Plain numbers are easier to read for everyone.

### Is my post sent anywhere?

Not unless you click Schedule this. The formatter runs in your browser. Schedule this sends the post to PostBoost to open it as a draft in your account.
