# Instagram line break generator

Write your caption with blank lines between paragraphs. The generator puts an invisible spacer on each blank line so the gap stays when you paste the caption into Instagram, removes stray spaces at line ends and counts the caption against the 2,200 character limit.

## How the spacer works

A blank line between two paragraphs is just two line breaks in a row. A line that holds a single character is not blank, so it keeps its place. The generator gives every blank line between two lines of text one spacer: the Braille pattern blank, which shows as an empty line, or a dot if you tick that option. Single line breaks stay exactly as you typed them. Spaces at the end of a line are removed, and blank lines at the very start or end of the caption are dropped, because they only add empty space.

## Hashtags at the bottom

Many accounts keep hashtags out of the way below the caption. With Move hashtags ticked, a row of hashtags that ends a line, or fills a line of its own, moves to the bottom after three spacer lines. A hashtag in the middle of a sentence stays put. Keep the total to five: that is the most PostBoost lets you schedule on one Instagram post.

## Before you post

Read the count under the result. It includes every spacer and line break, so it matches what Instagram will see. Long captions are cut after the first lines in the feed, so put the hook first. When the caption is ready, click Schedule this above to open it as a draft in PostBoost and schedule it to Instagram and your other networks at once.

## How to use

1. Write or paste your caption, with a blank line between paragraphs.
2. Tick Use a dot if you want a visible dot instead of the invisible spacer.
3. Tick Move hashtags to put the hashtags that end a line below the caption.
4. Check the character and hashtag count under the result.
5. Copy the caption and paste it into Instagram or PostBoost.

## FAQ

### Do I need a line break generator for Instagram?

Often not. In most Instagram apps today a normal line break stays where you put it. The spacer only matters for empty lines: a line that holds one spacer character is not empty, so the gap between two paragraphs shows even where an empty line would be dropped.

### What is the invisible character?

U+2800, the Braille pattern blank. It has no dots, so the line looks empty. If you would rather see a marker, tick Use a dot and each blank line gets a single dot instead.

### Does the spacer count toward the character limit?

Yes. Each spacer counts as one character and each line break as one, out of the 2,200 an Instagram caption can hold. The count under the result is the caption as you will paste it, spacers included, counted the way the PostBoost composer counts it.

### How many hashtags can an Instagram post have?

Five. PostBoost allows 5 hashtags per Instagram post, in line with Instagram's current limit, and the generator warns from the sixth one.

### What does moving hashtags to the bottom do?

Hashtags at the end of a line, or on a line of their own, move below the caption after three spacer lines, so people read the caption first. A hashtag inside a sentence stays where it is, so the sentence still makes sense.

### Is my caption sent anywhere?

Not unless you click Schedule this. The generator runs in your browser. Schedule this sends the caption to PostBoost to open it as a draft in your account.
