# Schedule Mastodon posts on any server.

Connect an account on any Mastodon server, choose who sees each post and publish threads on time.

## What you can post to Mastodon

- **Post**: Up to your server's limit (500 characters on most servers), with up to 4 photos, one video or one GIF.
- **Thread**: Extra parts publish as replies, in order.

## Why teams schedule Mastodon with PostBoost

- **One calendar for every channel**: See Mastodon next to your other 14 channels and move posts when plans change.
- **One post, a version per network**: Write once, then adjust the text for Mastodon without copying the post.
- **Know when a post fails**: If Mastodon rejects a post, you see why and can retry it once it is fixed. A webhook can tell your code too.
- **Visibility per post**: Public, unlisted, followers only or direct, and a sensitive-media flag, set per post.

## Connect Mastodon in three steps

1. **Open Accounts**: Choose Connect account, then Mastodon.
2. **Enter your server**: Type your server's address and sign in there.
3. **Write and schedule**: Pick visibility and a time.

## Post to Mastodon from your AI agent or your code

Ask your agent: "Schedule this post to Mastodon as unlisted for 9:00 tomorrow." (MCP tools: `create-post`, `schedule-post`). Connect Mastodon once in the dashboard; after that your agent can post to it.

API: `createPost` (https://postboost.co/docs/api/create-post/)

```bash
curl -X POST https://postboost.co/app/api/{workspaceUuid}/posts \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"accounts": [12], "queue": true, "versions": [{"account_id": 0, "is_original": true, "content": [{"body": "Our API 1.8 is live."}]}]}'
```

## Good to know

- PostBoost reads your server's character limit.
- Media can be marked sensitive. A separate content-warning text is not supported yet.
- Connect Mastodon in the dashboard. Agents cannot send a sign-in link for it yet.

## Questions about Mastodon

### Does it work with my server?

Yes. Enter your server's address when you connect and sign in there. PostBoost uses that server's character limit.

### Can I set who sees a post?

Yes: public, unlisted, followers only or direct, per post.

### Can I connect Mastodon on the Free plan?

Yes. Every plan can connect Mastodon. The Free plan includes 3 social accounts and 3 scheduled posts. Paid plans start at $29 a month with a 14-day free trial.

### Can my AI agent post to Mastodon?

Yes. Connect PostBoost to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, then ask it to write or schedule a Mastodon post. Posts stay drafts until you or the agent schedule them.
